From Fensome et al., 2019:
Algidasphaeridium, Matsuoka and Bujak, 1988, p.35–36.
See Rochon et al. (1999, p.52) regarding dinoflagellate affinity of this genus.
Type: Matsuoka and Bujak, 1988, pl.2, fig.5, as Algidasphaeridium capillatum.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original descripition: [Matsuoka and Bujak, 1988]:
Descripition:
Sphaerical skolochorate cysts consisting of a granular periphragm and endophragm, covered with numerous solid spines with closed distal tips. Apical and antapical horns absent. No ornamentation representing paratabulation. Archaeopyle chasmic (slit like).
Affinities:
Algidasphaeridium resembles an acritarchous genus Mycrhistidium, but differs from the latter in possessing a chasmic archaeopyle and a cyst wall consisting of two layers.
