Taxonomic senior synonym: Palaeocystodinium, by implication in Vozzhennikova (1967, p.152), who transferred the "type species" of Cystodiniopsis -- Cystodiniopsis hyperxantha, to Palaeocystodinium.
Type: Vozzhennikova, 1963, fig.20, as Cystodiniopsis hyperxantha (which see for lectotype).
