Diagnosis:
Globular capsule, resembling Hystrichosphaeridium, with ridges forming a meshwork and simple spine-processes arising from its nodal points.

Diagnosis:
Capsule in the form of an inflated or somewhat flattened spheroid, dividing into two somewhat unequal halves which, typically, totally separate. Surface of capsule covered by fine or coarse areolae in a regular or irregular pattern. Spines arise from the nodes of these areolae, being concentrated in the equatorial zone (at the margins in half-shells) or distributed generally over the surface.
