Eucladinium
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Eucladinium, Stover and Evitt, 1978, p.104.
Type: Cookson and Eisenack, 1970a, pl.11, fig.3, as Deflandrea madurensis.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Stover and Evitt, 1978]:
Synopsis:
Cysts proximate, circumcavate, compressed; outline ovate with narrow apical end; apical and left antapical horns typically short, right antapical horn reduced or absent; endocyst within antapical two-thirds of pericyst, length equal to or less than width; paratabulation indicated by archeopyle only, latter intercalary, Type l; archeopyle index 0.3 to 0.5.
Description:
Shape: Cysts compressed, outline ovate; apical end narrow with short horn, antapical end broad with short left horn; right antapical horn reduced or absent.
Wall relationships: Cysts circumcavate; endocyst outline subcircular to elliptical, length equal to or less than width; endocyst within antapical two-thirds of pericyst; apical pericoel prominent.
Wall features: No parasutural features. Periphragm smooth or ornamented uniformly with features of low relief.
Paratabulation: Indicated by archeopyle only.
Archeopyle: Intercalary, Type I (2a only); archeopyle index 0.3 to 0.5.
Paracingulum: Not indicated.
Parasulcus: Not indicated.
Size: Intermediate to large.
Affinities:
Eucladinium differs from Nelsoniella in having a low but distinct antapical pericoel and at least some indication of an antapical protrusion or horn. In the antapical area of Nelsoniella, the endophragm and periphragm are so closely appressed that they are virtually indistinguishable; even faint indications of protrusions are lacking.
