Gorkadinium
From Williams et al., 2017:
[Gorkadinium, Loeblich Jr. and Loeblich III, 1966, p. 93
nom. subst. pro: Tetrasphaera, Gorka, 1965, p. 307; non Tetrasphaera, Popofsky, 1912
Type species: Gorkadinium rarum, Górka, 1965 (pl.2, figs.6a–b)], Loeblich and Loeblich, 1966
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description Tetrasphaera: [Gorka, 1965]:
Description:
Theca roundly rectangular, with a membrane of the same form. Transverse furrow and tabulation difficult to define. Short spines on the sutures delimit the plates. Theca and membrane finely reticulate.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stover and Evitt, 1978, p. 231:
Remark:
The type of archeopyle on Gorkadinium is unknown; however, Davey (1969, p. 132) remarks that Gorka indicated to Sarjeant that her genus differs from Microdinium only in having a feebly marked tabulation and short spines on the plate boundaries. This observation would suggest that Gorkadinium has an apical archeopyle.
