Diagnosis:
Iscoidal organic-walled microfossils with circular polar outline and irregular membranous flange. Central pylome present with lid often in place.
Affinities:
Halodinium is similar to Cyclopsiella Drugg and Loeblich in having a small circular pylome that is often closed by a lid or plug. Cyclopsiella differs by being ellipsoidal in outline and by having the pylome situated close to one of the poles.
