Hystrichokibotium
From Fensome et al., 2019:
"Hystrichokibotium", Klumpp, 1953, p.387.
Taxonomic senior synonym: Spiniferites, by implication in Norris and Sarjeant (1965, p.33), who considered Hystrichokibotium to be a taxonomic junior synonym of Hystrichosphaera, which is now a taxonomic junior synonym of Spiniferites.
Type: Klumpp, 1953, pl.16, figs.12,14, as Hystrichokibotium pseudofurcatum.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Klumpp, 1953]: (Translation: Fensome, 1991, p. 273)
Diagnosis:
A genus with the characters of the family [Hystrichosphaeridae] and the following peculiarities: all plates of the test are trapezoidal polygons.
There is no cingular region consisting of oblong plates.
Description:
The test is approximately spherical, distinctly two-layered, with an internal region of plates and a thin continuous external membrane (see the general part [Klumpp, 1953, p.386). The tubular processes are formed accordingly, having an undivided rim with three or four tips at their opening.
The plates display a finely granular to warty sculpture. They may be so delicate that their sutures may be overlooked. It is possible that they become thicker during the life time [of the cyst].
