Mirificysta

From Williams et al., 2017:

[Mirificysta, Yu Jing-Xian, 1982, p. 237-238
Acritarch genus, according to Chen et al., 1988, and Fensome et al., 1990

Type species: Mirificysta lineata, Yu Jing-Xian, 1982 (pl.1, fig.20)]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Original description: [Yu Jing-Xian, 1982]: (Translation: Chen et al., 1988, p. 18):
Proximate cysts having ellipsoidal ambitus with an apical horn marked with a slit, antapex broadly rounded; cyst wall single layered, scabrate or irregularly lined on its surface. Sometimes on the position of the paracingulum the cyst is prolonged to form a less [small?] prominence, which may be [a] paracingulum. Reflected paratabulation and archeopyle is-absent.

Chen et al., 1988:

Remarks:
The bizarre shape of this microfossil and its lack of explicit features clearly indicative of dinoflagellate affinity, lead us to regard Mirificysta as an acritarch.

GSC: (Provisional translation: courtesy R. Fensome)
Proximate cysts of unusual shapes. Periphragm only. Surface punctate or with irregular sutural ridges. Apical horn irregularly circular and normally with a seam-like slit. Antapex fully rounded. No formation of antapical horns. Sometimes projection of cyst wall in girdle region, possibly equivalent to the paracingular position.
Archeopyle and parasulcus not reflected.

Comparison:
Because it has proximate cysts, a periphragm only and one apical horn but has no antapical horns and lacks reflected tabulation, this new genus resembles Pareodinia but is distinguished from the latter by its unusual shapes, a capitate apical horn, outward projection of the cyst wall at the girdle region and absence of an archeopyle.
Distribution: Suibin, Heilongjiang: Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous.
