Noricysta
From Williams et al., 2017:
[Noricysta, Bujak and Fisher, 1976, p. 58; Emendation: Dörhöfer and Davies, 1980, p. 23-24
Type species: Noricysta fimbriata, Bujak and Fisher, 1976 (pl.9, figs.2–4)] ; emend. Dörhöfer and Davies, 1980
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Bujak and Fisher, 1976]:
Description:
Double-walled dinoflagellate cysts with circular or laevo-rotatory cingulum. Endophragm circular, oval, subrhomboidal, or subrectangular in outline. Periphragm granular, verrucose, or sparsely spinose, and mostly in contact with endophragm. Periphragm always forming extremely low, thin crests along cingular borders and sometimes relatively high crests around periphery of epitract and at antapex. Lower crests sometimes developed along lateral sides of hypotract. Reflected tabulation absent. Archeopyle formed by removal of all of epitract except for precingular zone which comprises six precingular plates.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Modified description:
Stover and Evitt, 1978, p. 233-234:
Diagnosis:
Cysts proximochorate, lenticular; endophragm and periphragm appressed except where latter forms low to moderately high thin ridges or septa; archeopyle type uncertain - could be apical or combination apical and intercalary.
Description:
Shape: Lenticular.
Wall relationships: Endophragm and periphragm appressed except where latter forms septa.
Wall features: Low ridges occur along paracingulum and occasionally along lateral margins of hypocyst; higher septa present along periphery of epicyst and at antapex. Periphragm granulate, verrucate, or sparsely spinate.
Paratabulation: Indicated by paracingulum and archeopyle; six precingular paraplates discernible.
Archeopyle: Type uncertain; could be apical or combination apical and intercalary.
Paracingulum: Indicated generally by low transverse, parallel, equatorial ridges, occasionally by septa.
Parasulcus: Not indicated, or expressed by low ridges on hypocyst.
Size: Small to intermediate.
Affinities:
Noricysta differs from Maturodinium in lacking indications of paratabulation on the hypocyst and in having locally developed ridges or septa.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emended description:
Dörhöfer and Davies, 1980:
Description:
The genus is here emended to accommodate the presence of tabulation outlined by low sutural crests. The tabulation is 6`, 8a, 10``, 9c, 10```, 6p, 6````, ?s. Disintegration archaeopyle, 6A+8I+10Pa, initiating between the apical and intercalary series. In all other respects the diagnosis stays as originally proposed.
