Susadinium
From Williams et al., 2017:
[Susadinium, Dörhöfer and Davies 1980, p. 28
Tax. sr. syn.: Dodekovia, according to Below (1987a, p.113) — however, Stover and Williams (1987, p.209) and Lentin and Williams (1989, p.358) retained Susadinium.
Type species: Susadinium scrofoides, Dörhöfer and Davies, 1980 (fig.24I)]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Dörhöfer and Davies, 1980]:
Description:
Proximate dinoflagellate cysts with elongated cyst body, tapering apically, antapically rounded. Short intratabular protuberances delineating the pre- and postcingular series and less pronounced the anterior intercalary plates. Surface of periphragm smooth to granulate. Tabulation formula: ?4`, 5a, 6", ?6c, 5```, ?1````; archeopyle 3I(2-4).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Modified description:
Stover and Williams, 1987, p. 209-210:
Synopsis:
Cysts proximate, outline hexalobate, dorsoventrally compressed; hypocyst generally broader than epicyst; autophragm with intratabular inflations or concentrations of ornamentation which indicate a paratabulation of 5`, 3a, 7", Xc, 5```, 2````; archeopyle intercalary types I or 3I, 2a bicamerate.
Description:
Shape: Cysts dorsoventrally flattened; outline hexalobate, hypocyst broader than epicyst.
Wall relationships: Autophragm only.
Wall features: Cyst wall inflated locally and/or ornamented with concentrations of low relief features; inflations and concentrations intratabular, which may be separated by unornamented pandasutural areas; faint parasutural features may also occur.
Archeopyle: Intercalary, types I or 3I, 2a bicamerate.
Paratabulation: Indicated by intratabular features together with pandasutural and parasutural features; paratabulation formula: 5`, 3a, 7", Xc, 5```, 2````.
Paracingulum: Indicated by nearly equatorial depression which lacks or has reduced ornamentation; faint parasutural marking may be present.
Parasulcus: May be indicated by thinning of the autophragm and reduction or absence of ornamentation.
Size: Small, length about 25 to 50 µm.
Affinities:
Susadinium differs from Parvocysta Bjaerke 1980 in having intratabular protrusions or clusters of ornamentation indicating the paratabulation. Such features are lacking on Parvocysta. Both genera have intercalary archeopyles with a bicamerate 2a paraplate.
