Foucheria
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Foucheria, Monteil, 1992a, p.277–278.
Type: Monteil, 1992a, pl.3, figs.1–4, as Foucheria modesta.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Monteil, 1992]: (Translation: LPP):
Synopsis:
Cyst proximochorate, acavate, ovoidal, with a very large equatorial diameter; ornamentation formed by small solid isolated processes, identical in shape and size, distally closed and knobbly at the base; processes distributed in small, dense, intratabular to centrotabular surfaces; growth bands present; paratabulation gonyaulacoid, indicated by low parasutural septa and by the ornamentation; formula: ?pr, 4`, ?0a, 6``, 6c, 6```, 1p, 1```, ?xs; archaeopyle apical, type (tA)(a); operculum adnate.
Diagnosis:
Shape: Cyst proximochorate, acavate, ovoidal with a very large equatorial diameter. Apex more or less clearly marked by a slight apical bulge.
Wall structure: Autophragm only.
Wall features: Low parasutural septa; growth bands present; ornamentation formed by small solid isolated processes, identical in shape and size, distally closed, with a knobbly base; processes distributed in small dense surfaces, in intratabular (precingular or postcingular series) to centrotabular (antapical) position.
Archaeopyle: Apical, type (tA)(a). Operculum adnate.
Paratabulation: Indicated by the low parasutural septa, the growth bands and the ornamentation; gonyaulacoid, formula: ?pr, 4`, ?0a, 6``, 6c, 6```, 1p, 1````, ?xs. Only observed in cracked specimens and in some fragments.
Paracingulum: Indicated by the parasutural septa.
Parasulcus: Not clearly observed.
Size: Medium, about 50 to 60 µm broad.
Affinities:
Foucheria differs from Kallosphaeridium in its well marked paratabulation and in its ornamentation.
