Taxonomic senior synonym: Nematosphaeropsis, by implication in Reid (1974, p.592), who included the "type species" of Coccopterum, Coccopterum labyrinthus, in Nematosphaeropsis, and Fensome et al. (1993b, p.93).
Type: Ostenfeld, 1903, fig.127, as Pterosperma labyrinthus.
