Original description Morgenroth et al., 2008:

Derivation of name: Named after the island of Java, Indonesia.

Diagnosis: Apically-antapically compressed cysts. Epicyst conical with a pointed or rounded apex. Hypocyst smaller than epicyst with a rounded antapex, devoid of antapical horns or lobes. Cingulum marked by two parallel folds which are interrupted on the ventral side by a parasulcus. Archeopyle precingular (P), located mid-dorssal, opposite to the sulcus. The cysts may carry appendages, in this case those are concentrated at the apex, the cingulum and at the antapex. Some appendages may also be located on other areas on the epi- and hypocyst.

Type species: Javadinium matsuokae sp. nov

Comparisons: Javadinium gen. nov. differs from Selenopemphix BENEDEK 1972 by the type of the archeopyle (precingular, P) and the absence of antapical horns or lobes. The shape of the antapex, together with the absence of antapical horns or lobes differentiates the new genus from Lejeunecysta.
