Soaniella granulata
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Soaniella granulata Vozzhennikova, 1967, p.108–109, pl.116, figs.1–12. Emendation: Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, p.67–68. Holotype: Vozzhennikova, 1967, pl.116, figs.1–2, lost according to Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.67). Lectotype: Vozzhennikova, 1967, pl.116, fig.7; Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, pl.10, fig.1; text-fig.36; designated by Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.67). Lentin and Williams (1976, p.165) designated this species as a "nomen ambiguum"; however, this is not a formal status under the ICN Age: Eocene–Early Oligocene.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Locus typicus: Western Siberia, Russia
Stratum typicum: Eocene-Early Oligocene
Translation Vozzhennikova, 1967: Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990
Original description: Vozzhennikova, 1967, p.108-109
Description. Epitheca is dome-shaped, with a small apical protrusion, rounded or pointed at the end. Hypotheca trapezoidal with small unequal antapical protrusions. One of them is conical and pointed, it is straight or slightly bent. Another one is wide-rounded. The girdle is small, equatorial, and divides the theca into equal parts. Longitudinal girdle in the form of a notch running from the transverse girdle to the antapex. Theca is thick, its surface is densely covered with granules. Pylome is well developed.
Affinities. S. granulata differs from Soaniella sp. A by its tuberous sculpture and variable size and shape of antapical protrusions.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emended description: Lentin and Vozzhennikova, p.68
Cyst shape roundly peridinioid; epicyst roundly conical with a single small, acuminate to blunt apical horn; hypocyst broadly rounded with two short antapical horns, of which the right is longer; epicyst commonly collapsing into hypocyst; endocyst closely appressed to pericyst except in the area of the horns; cornucavate. Periphragm ornamentet with randomly distributed coarse granules: endophragm smooth. Paratabulation indicated by archeopyle and paracingulum only; peridinioid. archeopyle identical in both wall layers, combination intercalary-precingular formula I + 3P@ (2a + 3""-5""). Paracingulum indicated by a shallow depression bordered by slightly denser granules. Parasulcus not indicated or indicatet by a shallow depression only.
Size: Lectotype length 71 µm, width 82 µm. Range, length 58-74 µm, width 55-82 µm.
