Batioladinium? vestigium var. granulatum var. nov.

Holotype. Plate 1, figure 5.
Type locality. Suncor Liege 100/05-17-92-17W4, Alberta, 232.65 m, upper McMurray Formation.
Repository. National Collection of Type Invertebrate and Plant Fossils, Geological Survey of Canada, 601 Booth Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0E8, under curation number GSC 139220.

Diagnosis. A variety of Batioladinium? vestigium that lacks an apical horn and has a coarsely granular test.

Description. Shape: The autophragm is ellipsoidal. No apical horn is apparent and the antapical projections are barely discernible.
Tabulation: Indicated only by archaeopyle sutures.
Archaeopyle: The operculum is usually attached.
Body surface: Coarsely granulose with grana up to 1.5 μm in diameter. A partial or complete kalyptra, 2–4 μm wide, is often present.

Dimensions [min (mode) max].
Length: 41 (53) 62 μm (20 specimens). Holotype: 64μm.
Breadth: 33 (36) 44 μm. Holotype: 37 μm.

Comparison. This variety is distinguished by the coarsely granulose ornament.

Occurrence. Aptian to early Albian, middle and upper McMurray Formation and Clearwater Formation
