Sverdrupiella septentrionalis
Sverdrupiella septentrionalis Bujak and Fisher, 1976
Tax. sr. synonym of Sverdrupiella cristata Bujak and Fisher, 1976, according to Below, 1987.
Tax. sr. synonym of Sverdrupiella downiei Bujak and Fisher, 1976, according to Below, 1987.
Holotype:Bujak and Fisher 1976, pl.1, figs.1-2
Locus typicus: Drake Point F-16, core 3722", Queen Elizabeth Islands, arctic Canada
Stratum typicum: ?Carnian-Norian
Original diagnosis: Bujak and Fisher, 1976, p.48
Bicavate cysts, capsule ovoidal to rhomboidal. Periphragm longer than broad, forming apical horn and delimiting antapical pericoel of irregular shape. Antapical horns absent. Cingulum circular or slightly laevo-rotary, defined by two crests bearing echinate or sometimes baculate to clavate spines. Sulcus usually only defined on hypotract and delimited along each margin by row of widely spaced spines which may be joined by low, discontinuous crests. Remainder of periphragm sparsely covered by echinate, baculate, or clavate spines. Archeopyle anterior intercalary in periphragm, formed by displacement of two or rarely three plates which remain attached along their posterior margins. In occasional specimens some or all apical and intercalary plates absent. Mode of archeopyle formation in capsule unknown.
Dimensions: Holotype, periphragm length 103 µm, periphragm breadth 58 µm, capsule length 54 µm, capsule breadth 49 µm. Observed range, periphragm length 87-105 µm, periphragm breadth 50-63 µm, capsule length 43 - 58 µm, capsule breadth 47 - 60 µm.
