Original description Vasilyeva, 2012:

Named in honor of palynologist A.F. Khlonova

Diagnosis. Peridinoid bicavat or cornucavate cyst of medium size. Pericyst is pentagonal with well-developed apical and two equal antapical horns. Horns are elongated, pointed. Periphragm is thick, granular. Endocyst is rounded-oval, adjacent to the pericyst. Endophragm is thin, smooth. Paracingulum is marked by a double cord-like suture on the dorsal and ventral sides of the pericyst. Periarchaeopile is intercalary, type I(2a) or combined intercalary-apical, type AI(3ÿ+2a). Perioperculum is free or attached. Parasulcus is in the form of a shallow triangular depressions.

Diagnosis. Bicavate or cornucavate peridioid cysts of intermediate size. Pericyst of pentagonal outline with well developed apical and two equal antapical horns. Horns are stretched, acuminated. Pericyst is granulated. Endocyst of roundly oval sphaerical shape closely appressed to pericyst. Endophragm is smooth. Paracingulum is indicated by double sutures the dorsal and ventral pericyst surfaces. Periarcheopyle is intercalary, type I(2a) or combinated apical-interca-lary, type AI(3ÿ+2a). Perioperculum is free Parasulcus is indicated by shallow triangle depressions.

Description: Peridinoid bicavatum cyst medium in size. The pericyst is pentagonal in shape with a normally developed apical and two equal antapical horns. The horns are elongated, pointed. The antapical horns are widely spaced. The epicyst is equal to the hypocyst. The lateral sides of the epicyst and hypocyst are slightly convex-concave, sometimes straight. The periphragm is dense, distinctly granular. The endocyst is rounded oval, adjacent to the pericyst. The pericyst is observed in the area of the apical, antapical horns and sometimes the scurvy. The endophragm is thin, smooth. The paracingulum clearly protrudes on the lateral sides of the cyst and is marked by a double cord-like suture on the dorsum.

lateral and ventral sides of the pericyst. Periarchaeopile intercalary, type I(2a) or combined AI(3ÿ+2a), in the case when the apical plate is involved in the formation of the archaeopile. Perioperculum free or attached. Parasulcus in the form of a shallow triangular groove. Paratabulation of the cyst is expressed by the position of the archaeopile, cingulum and sulcus.

Holotype. Plate 2, Fig. 6. Ref. K14/130–25S.
Location. Well K-14 (Komsomolskaya), Komsomolsky settlement, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, Russia.

Dimensions (μm). Holotype: pericyst length – 88, pericyst width – 64. Other specimens (10 specimens): pericyst length – 102–76, pericyst width – 93–66.

Comparison. The species Soaniella khlonovae sp. ÿov. differs from other species of this genus by the pentagonal form of the pericyst, clearly expressed horns, antapical horns equal in length, thick, loosely granular periphragm.

Distribution. Russia, Western Siberia, Upper Konda River, Nyurol Formation. Eocene (Ypresian-Lutetian).
