Soaniella doliiformis
From Fensome et al., 2019:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description Vasilyeva, 2012:
The name comes from doliiformis (lat.) – barrel-shaped, barrelshaped.
Diagnosis. Peridinoid round-oval cyst of medium-small size. The epicyst does not have a small rounded apical horn. Two asymmetrical horns are developed on the hypocyst, usually the left one is longer than the right one. The periphragm is thin, coarsegrained. The endocyst is oval, tightly adjacent to the pericyst. The cyst is cornucopia-cotton. The endophragm is thin. The paracingulum weakly protrudes and is expressed by a double suture on the dorsal and ventral surfaces of the cyst. The periarchaeopile is of a combined type, 3I3P (1a-3a + 3 "-5") or A3I3P (3 '+ 1a-3a + 3 "-5"). The perioper-
The culum is usually free (2a). The parasulcus is weakly expressed or not visible.
Diagnosis. Cornucavate peridiniacean cyst keg-like shape, middle or small size. Epicyst short blunt apical horn. Hypocyst has two asymmet-rical horns, of which left may be longer. Pericyst is thin, ornamented with coarse granules, of oval form and closely appressed to pericyst. is cornucavated. Endophragm is thin. Paracingis slightly lifted and indicated by double dense suture at the pericyst. Periarcheopyle type 3I3P(1a-3a+3ÿ-5ÿ) or A3I3P(3ÿ+1a-3a+3ÿ-5ÿ). Perioperculum (2a) is free usually. Parasulcus is expressed
weakly or not indicated.
Description. A medium-small, peridinoid, roundedoval cyst. The pericyst is oval in shape with semicircular lateral walls. The epicyst is equal to the hypocyst. A small, rounded apical horn is developed on the epicyst. The hypocyst bears two, usually unequal, antapical horns, the left one is usually longer than the right one. The periphragm is thin, coarse-grained. The endocyst is oval, tightly adjacent to the pericyst. A small pericoel is visible only in the area of the horns. The cyst is cornucopia. The endophragm is thin. The paracingulum weakly protrudes on the lateral sides of the cyst and is expressed by a double suture on the ventral and dorsal sides of the pericyst. Periarcheopyle combined - intercalary-precingular or apical-intercalary-precingular, type 3I3P or A3I3P(3ÿ+1a-3a+3ÿ-5ÿ). The perioperculum is reflected by the intercalary plate (2a). The perioperculum is usually free. The parasulcus is weakly expressed.
Holotype. Plate 2, Fig. 13–14. Ref. K14/130–25B.
Location. Well K-14 (Komsomolskaya), Komsomolsky settlement, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, Russia.
Dimensions (μm). Holotype: pericyst length – 56, pericyst width – 49.5. Other specimens (5 specimens): pericyst length – 52–59, pericyst width – 42–50.
Comparison. Species Soaniella doliiformis sp. nov. differs from other species of Soaniella in its comparatively smaller size, proportions and shape of the cyst, namely the pericyst has an oval-elongated shape.
Distribution. Russia, Western Siberia, upper reaches of the Konda River, Nyurol Formation. Eocene (Ypresian- Lutetian).
