Trigonopyxidia fiscellata
Trigonopyxidia fiscellata De Coninck, 1986
Holotype: De Coninck, 1986, pl.10, figs.13-15
Locus typicus: Woensdrecht borehole, S Netherlands
Stratum typicum: Tongrian
Original diagnosis: De Coninck, 1986, p.20
The pericyst has a concavely isocele triangular form with rounded corners. It is ornamented below the apical archeopyle with pronounced ridges marking the lateral and upper limits of a series of six precingular plates. This series is interrupted by a relatively narrow ventral strip. The ridges remind us of a muzzle (latin: fiscella -ae) around a snout. Apart from these ridges small dot-like thickenings are observed on the periphragm. The operculum is still attached to the ventral strip. The endocyst is ovoidal and relatively small.
Dimensions of the endocyst: Holotype: 22.5 µm long and 22.5 µm wide. Four other specimens: between 20 and 25 µm long and 20 to 25 µm wide. Dimensions of the pericyst: Holotype: 32.5 µm long, 15 µm wide at the top and 35 µm wide at the base. Four other specimens: 35 to 50 µm long; 15 to 20 µm wide at the top and 32 to 47 µm wide at the base.
Affinities:
De Coninck, 1986, p. 20: T. fiscellata differs from T. ginella (Cookson and Eisenack 1960) by the tabulation of the epitract between the cingular area and the apical archeopyle.
