Wallodinium glaessneri
Wallodinium glaessneri (Cookson and Eisenack, 1960) Loeblich and Loeblich, 1968
Originally Diplotesta, subsequently (and now) Wallodinium.
Holotypus: Cookson and Eisenack,1960, pl.39, fig.4
Locus typicus: Broome No. 3 bore, W. Australia
Stratum typicum: Oxfordian to ?Aptian
Original diagnosis: Cookson and Eisenack, 1960, p.256: Diplotesta glaessneri
Shell cylindrical, straight or curved, distal end bluntly pointed, proximal end not diminishing in size and apparently rounded. In all of the many examples observed the proximal end of the shell has been open and the edge clean-cut; in a number of them, including the type, and the example shown in Pl. 39, fig. 5, the proximal wall has separated as a "lid", seemingly along a preformed line of weakness, and is to be seen still attached at one side.
The capsule has a thin, smooth wall and extends laterally to or almost to the shell membrane, the latter is either smooth or longitudinally striate (Pl. 39, Fig. 6). The capsule opens by means of a V-shaped apical split to one side of the middle line.
Dimensions: Holotype: length (without lid) 100 µm, breadth 24 µm, capsule 58 µm long, 24 µm broad. Paratype (Pl. 39, fig. 5) 80 µm x 38 µm, capsule 62 µm x 38 µm. Range: length (without lid) 80-128 µm, breadth 24-38 µm long, 24-38 µm broad.
