Original diagnosis: Klement, 1960:
Typical species of the genus Xenicodinium. Shell set with very short, closely spaced, pointed thorns with broadened basis. Thorns isolated or partly fused linearly with the basis into angular to vermicular short strings. Fine polygonal basal network indicated on the surface of the shell. Apically ornamented with several closely spaced, slightly longer thorns. Apex more strongly curved than the broadly rounded antapex.
