Rhombodella paucispina

Rhombodella paucispina (Alberti 1961) Duxbury 1980

Originally Palaeohystrichophora, subsequently Palaeotetradinium, thirdly (and
now) Rhombodella.
Tax. sr. synonym of Rhombodella natans Cookson and Eisenack, 1962, according to Stover and Evitt, 1978. Rhombodella paucispina therefore becomes the correct name for the type species of Rhombodella, but the nomenclatural type of the
genus remains the holotype of Rhombodella natans. Stover and Evitt, 1978 transferred this species to Palaeotetradinium Deflandre, 1936; however, Lentin and Williams, 1981 retained it in Rhombodella.
