Areosphaeridium actinocoronatum
Areosphaeridium actinocoronatum, (Benedek, 1972), Stover and Evitt, 1978
Now Reticulatosphaera. Originally Cleistosphaeridium, subsequently Areosphaeridium?, thirdly (and now) Reticulatosphaera.
Tax. sr. synonym of Reticulatosphaera stellata Matsuoka, 1983, according to Bujak and Matsuoka, 1986. Reticulatosphaera actinocoronata is therefore the correct name for the type species of Reticulatosphaera, but the nomenclatural type of the genus remains the holotype of Reticulatosphaera stellata. At the time of the transfer, Stover and Evitt, 1978 considered this to be a provisionally accepted species of Areosphaeridium.
Holotype: Benedek, 1972, pl. 12, fig.13; Benedek and Sarjeant, 1981, fig.10/5; text-fig.11
Paratypes: Benedek, 1972; Benedek and Sarjeant, 1981
Locus typicus: Toenisberg, Niederrhein, Germany
Stratum typicum: Middle-Late Oligocene

Original description as Cleistosphaeridium actinocoronatum: [Benedek, 1972, p. 34]: (Translation: LPP):
Diagnosis:
The outer surface of the thin, delicate shell is smooth. The fairly constant number of about 20 processes corresponds to their uniform distribution. Also, the general habit remains uniform, the processes bifurcate into an equidistant outer ring. The bilateral ramifications can further branch widely, and are regularly set with numerous small heels.
Dimensions (microns):
Shell 13/15, processes onto ramifications: 15 (12/17).
