Xenascus australensis
Xenascus australensis Cookson and Eisenack, 1969, p.7
Taxonomic senior synonym: Hystrichosphaera (as Phoberocysta, now Xenascus) ceratioides, according to Davey and Verdier (1971, p.26) — however, Lentin and Williams (1985, p.374) retained Xenascus australensis.

G.L. Williams short notes on species, Mesozoic-Cenozoic dinocyst course, Urbino, Italy, May 17-22, 1999:
Xenascus australensis Cookson and Eisenack, 1969. Diagnosis from Cookson and Eisenack (1969, p.7), As for the genus. Both the inner and outer layers of the shell are finely and closely granular. The appendages vary both in number and size in individual specimens, some are simple, others forked, but all have somewhat flattened apices. Size; overall length 109-156 µm width 76-133 µm, endocyst length 70-76 µm, width 68-76 µm.
--------------------------------------------------
Holotype: Cookson and Eisenack 1969: Figure l, J
Locus typicus: Balcatta No. 1, Western Australia
Stratum typicum: Osborne Formation (Albian-Cenomanian)
Age: Albian-Cenomanian
Original description: Cookson and Eisenack 1969:

Dimensions:
Holotype: overall length about 142 µm, overall width about 100µm, central body about 76 x 68 µm.
Range: overall length about 109-156 µm, overall width about 76-133 µm, central body about 70-76 µm long, about 68-76 µm broad.
