Original description: Hultberg, 1985:
Proximate cyst, composed of endophragm and periphragm, closely appressed. The surface of the endophragm is smooth. The surface of the periphragm is densely covered with meandering ridges of low relief, which gives the periphragm a labyrinth-like appearance. The shape of the cyst is subspherical. No indication of paratabulation is present, except the archeopyle.
The archeopyle is precingular, type P, formed by the detachment of paraplate 3"". Operculum free.
Paracingulum and parasulcus is not indicated.

Dimensions/Size: 48-55 µm (diameter).

Affinities:
The characteristic meandering pattern of the periphragm of X. meandriformis clearly distinguishes this species from other species of Xenicodinium.
