Acanthaulax crispa
Acanthaulax crispa, (W. Wetzel, 1967a, p. 870, pl. 15, figs. 4a-b), Woollam and Riding, 1983, p.3; Emendations: Sarjeant, 1980b, p.119-120, as Hystrichogonyaulax crispa; Fenton, 1981, p.255,257, as Cribroperidinium crispum.
NOW Cribroperidinium. Originally Gonyaulax, subsequently Gonyaulacysta, thirdly Millioudodinium, fourthly Hystrichogonyaulax, fifthly (and now) Cribroperidinium, sixthly Acanthaulax.
Holotype: W. Wetzel, 1967a, pl.15, figs.4a-b.
Age: Mid Jurassic.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Original description as Gonyaulax crispa: [Wetzel, 1967, p. 870] (Translation: LPP):
Diagnosis:
A species of Gonyaulax with nearly isometric shell and the following tabulation scheme: 4', 6'', 6''', 1p, 1''''.
The equatorial girdle furrow is laevoritatory. The longitudinal furrow is broadened on the hypotheca. The thick setting of the theca consists of low blisters.
Dimensions:
longitudinal diameter 64 µm.
Remark:
The holotype is a single find.
Affinities:
Comparison to other Gonyaulx species is prohibited by the peculiar ornamentation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Woollam and Riding, 1983, p. 3: Acanthaulax crispa
This species has similar intratabular ornament and therefore it is more appropriately assigned to Acanthaulax.
