Originally Areoligera, subsequently Adnatosphaeridium? (combination not validly published), thirdly (and now) Areoligera?. Questionable assignment: Stover and Evitt (1978, p.15), as a problematic species.
Age: Late Triassic (probably not in place).

Holotype: plate P 431, Zohar 8 survey, depth 2014 m, Upper Triassic, Southern Israel.
Description: Chorate cyst of Dinoflagellate. Hemispherical body, convex dorsal surface, depressed ventral surface. Very delicate membrane, less than 1/2 IL thick, finely granular. Intratabular processes, with branched ends, arranged annularly on a broad, short, fenestrate base.
Size: 60 IL; 1 specimen.
Discussion: This species differs from other Areoligera species in the morphology of its processes.
Its delicate membrane makes it difficult to measure and photograph1ยท, and although it is a fairly abundant element of the microflora, preserved specimens have not been observed.
Origin of the name: Based on the delicacy of the membrane.
