Adnatosphaeridium filiferum
From Williams, Lentin and Fensome 1998 - Lentin and Williams Index of Fossil Dinoflagellates:
[Adnatosphaeridium filiferum, (Cookson and Eisenack, 1958, p. 46, pl.7, fig.4), Williams and Downie, 1969, p. 17.
Originally Cannosphaeropsis utinensis subsp. filifera, subsequently Cannosphaeropsis filifera, thirdly (and now) Adnatosphaeridium filiferum.
This combination was not validly published in Williams and Downie (1966c, p.218), since these authors did not fully reference the basionym.
Holotype: Cookson and Eisenack, 1958, pl.7, fig.4.]
Locus typicus: Carnarvon Basin, W Australia
Stratum typicum: Campanian-Early Maastrichtian
Age: Campanian-Early Maastrichtian
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description as Cannosphaeropsis filifera: [Cookson and Eisenack, 1958, p. 46]:
Description:
Shell sphaerical, smooth with a number of processes of unequal length and width, which, by their branching and coalescence, give rise to a loose external network. Some of the main branches are flattened and relatively broad; short branches bearing 3 or 4 slender hairs are developed at or near some of the points of branching.
Dimensions:
Holotype - overall diameter c. 185 µm, diameter of shell c. 104 µm.
