Apteodinium confusum

Apteodinium confusum, (Vozzhennikova, 1967), Helenes, 1984

Originally Gonyaulax, subsequently Gonyaulacysta, thirdly Millioudodinium?, fourthly Rhynchodiniopsis?, fifthly (and now) Apteodinium. Lentin and Williams, 1985, 1989, questionably retained this species in Rhynchodiniopsis Deflandre, 1935; the latter authors recommended that the name be restricted to the holotype. Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, retained the species in Apteodinium.

Holotype: Vozzhennikova, 1967, pl.25, fig.5 (lost according to Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990)
Lectotype: None available acording to Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990
Locus typicus: Mocow region, USSR
Stratum typicum: Late Jurassic
