Apteodinium suibinense
Apteodinium suibinense, Lentin and Williams, 1985, nom. subst. pro Apteodinium reticulatum Yu Jingxian, 1982, non Apteodinium reticulatum C. Singh, 1971
Holotype: Yu Jingxian, 1982, pl.1, fig.14
Age: Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description:
Cysts elliptical or irregularly and broadly elliptical in outline. Periphragm only. Reticular ridges on surface linked to form irregular lattice. Apical horn clavate, truncated at end, about 29 - 32.2 µm long.
Paracingulum and parasulcus do not show. A polygonal thinning zone sometimes observed below apical horn, equivalent perhaps to archeopyle position.
Dimensions:
Size: Cysts 115 - 126.5 µm long and 80.5 - 87.5 µm wide.
Affinities/Comparison:
This new species is distinguished from other species in the genus by the conjoining of its surface ridges to form a lattice and by its long apical horns.
