Description:
The tract has an ovoidal to circular ambital outline, and in the area posterior to the opening the tract may have an inverted mushroom-like shape, a highly arched shape, etc.
A fairly large "pylome" is present; this may represent the epitractal archaeopyle. The operculum is often attached (or it may be lost). The tract frequently reaches its maximum breadth in the area of the opening.
No antapical or apical horns are observed, nor a cingulum or tabulation.
The hypotract is generally larger than the epitract and commonly has a highly arched, domed form. The wall of the tract is thin and may be folded; its surface is densely covered with granulate ornamentation, with the granular processes being either fine or coarse; occasionally several short, baculate processes (length 1 - 2.5 µm) can be seen in some specimens. [The tract] may contain a yellow coloured nucleus-like structure. The holotype has a tract diameter of 55 µm, while the diameter of the paratype's tract is 50 µm. The range of variation is 37.5 - 60 µm (30 specimens examined).
Affinities:
This species is distinguished from all other species of the genus by its granular sculpturing. The characteristics of its opening serves to distinguish it from Granodiscus pylomicus (Jiabo, 1978).
