Description:
Shell flattened, elongate. Epitheca mostly a sharp-cornered triangle, distally narrowing into along horn. Transversal furrow mostly absent and if present slightly deepened. Two long antapical horns which, like the apical horn, sometimes bear a fine longitudinal striation. Inner body oval, positioned close to the shell.
Additions: The species is characterized by the long horns, which narrow distally and which are pointed or slightly blunt. The horns are almost equal in length. The membrane of the armor is soft, transparent and sometimes finely punctate. A rounded trapezium-shaped archaeopyle is located closely below the apex.
Dimensions:
Length central body: 110-210 µm; width central body: 40-50 µm.
Affinities:
Deflandrea diebelii differs from all other species in this genus in the outline of the shell and the very large horns.

Description:
Cornucavate cyst, composed of endophragm and periphragm, separated by pericoels in the apical and antapical horns. The surface of both endophragm and periphragm is strongly striate, often in the form of abundant longitudinal folds in the periphragm. The shape of the endophragm is ovoidal to ellipsoidal. The shape of the periphragm is elongate, with one very long and sharply pointed apical horn, and two antapical horns of varying length.
No trace of paratabulation is present, except archeopyle.
The exoarcheopyle is intercalary, type I, formed by the detachment of paraplate 2a. Operculum free. The endoarcheopyle is intercalary, type 3I, formed by the detachment of paraplates 1a, 2a, and 3a.
Paracingulum is not discernible. Parasulcus is not discernible.
Dimensions:
Size - 180-236 µm (length), 43-86 µm (breadth).
