Spiniferites granulatus Cookson and Eisenack, 1974

Name illegitimate — senior homonym: Spiniferites granulatus (Davey, 1969b) Lentin and Williams, 1973. Substitute name: Spiniferites cooksoniae.
Originally Spiniferites granulatus (name illegitimate), subsequently (and now) Spiniferites cooksoniae.

Shell oval, dense and highly granulated, so that in the optical cross-section the margin appears to be finely serrated. Furrows flat, bordered by very low lists and hard to see. On hypotract longitudinal furrow is broad. Processes only short, furcated solely at the outermost extremity with prongs arranged in V-shaped form. Spanning-membranes developed only sporadically and pulling themselves upward onto the processes. Archaeopyle approximately rectangular (slightly deformed through compression).
Dimensions: shell about 48 x 40 microns, overall about 65 x 60 µm, processes up to 16 µm.
Occurrence: Power House bore, at 640 ft.
