Chatangiella campbellensis
Chatangiella campbellensis, (Wilson, 1967), Lentin and Williams, 1976
Holotype: Wilson, 1967, fig.2
Locus typicus: Head of Perseverance Harbour, Campbell Island, New Zealand
Stratum typicum: Palaeocene
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description as Deflandrea campbellensis: [Wilson, 1967, p. 225]:
Description:
Test large, dorso-ventrally flattened; broadly rounded epitheca tapers to a fairly blunt apical horn (l=41-55 µm) sometimes terminated by a papilla. Anterior of inner cyst flat; breadth grater than length.
Antapical horns unequal, right horn being slightly longer than left and usually terminated by a papilla.
Surface of outer cyst smooth. Prominent spiral transverse girdle tripartite on dorsal surface.
Atabulate.
Archaeopyle fairly large, trapezoidal, intercalary, located on dorsal epitheca. Opening of inner cyst semi-apical to apical.
Dimensions:
Holotype: l=153 µm, b=83 µm, inner cyst 63x80 µm.
Range (6 specimens): l=146(162)179 µm, b=72(85)99) µm.
Affinities:
Deflandrea campbellensis has a somewhat similar shape to Deflandrea bakeri (Defl. and Cooks., 1955), but differs in overall size and in the prominence and structure of the transverse girdle.
