From Fensome et al., 2019:
Chlamydophorella membranoperforata Below, 1982d, p.345, fig.3. Holotype: Below, 1982d, fig.3. Age: late Barremian.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Original description, Below, 1982: Chlamydophorella membranoperforata n. sp. (Abb. 3; Abb. 41, Nr. 69) [translation pkb 2025]

Derivatio nominis: Composed of membrana (Latin) = the shell and perforo (Latin) = perforated.
HoIotype: specimen II-7009: 44.4/ 105.2 (Fig. 3).
Locus typicus: clay pit, Otto Gott in Sarstedt.
Stratum typicum: bidentatum zone, Upper Barrême.
Diagnosis: Two-layered, holocavate cyst with a longitudinal ovaloid habitus. Apical archaeopyle, type A. Ovaloid endocyst with a small apical bump consisting of a thick endophragm densely covered with short, evenly distributed, solid, distally funnel-shaped appendages that bear a delicate periphragmatic network. Pericyst ovaloid, apically extended into a tubular apical horn with a capped, open tip. No evidence of paratabulation, paracingulum, or parasulcus.
Differential diagnosis: The species differs from all other taxa of the genus Chlamydophorella due to the reticulated formation of the periphragm.
Dimensions of the holotype: length of the endocyst 47 μ, width of the endocyst 28 μ; Length of the pericyst 68 µ, width of the pericyst 36 µ.
Description: The habitus of the cyst is determined by the ovaloid shape of the endocyst with its apical bump and the pericyst surrounding it at an almost constant distance. Only rarely can the generally almost parallel flanks on the equator bulge, so that the cyst takes on an ellipsoidal shape. The pericyst extends apically into a tubular apical horn. This is expanded basally, but tapers rapidly distally and remains of almost constant diameter up to the capped tip. The apical horn is hollow and open distally. The apical cap is as ? The "attached" operculum is often dislocated. However, the resulting archaeopyle sutures cannot be used to reconstruct the paraphragm. Nor can any paralamina be seen from the very regular distribution of the numerous, basally thickened, distally funnel-shaped appendages on the endocyst. The appendages carry the reticulated periphragm, which can also be described as a densely perforated membrane.
Occurrence: Limited to sample 7009 from the bidentatum zone.
