Original description: [Qian Zeshu et al., 1986]: (Translation: GSC, courtesy R. Fensome):

Description:
Tests subcircular in outline. Width slightly greater than length or nearly equal.
Wall single-layered, 1 - 1.5 µm thick. Surface rough to smooth. Contour line smooth, often with creases.
Archaeopyle precingular, fairly large, its diameter being 2/3 - 4/5 diameter of test, and with angular margin. Operculum fallen away or adhering to side of archaeopyle.

Dimensions:
Tests 15 - 19 µm in diameter (9 measured). Holotype specimen has diameter of 15 µm, and archaeopyle is 10 µm wide.

Affinities/Discussion:
In test outline and archeopyle type, this new species is comparable to Palaeostomocystis pachytheca Cookson et Eisenack 1971 (p. 222, pl. 11, figs. 7 - 9). The latter, however, has larger individuals (28 - 35 µm) and thicker walls. The two may- have a genetic relationship.
