Cleistosphaeridium actinocoronatum
Cleistosphaeridium actinocoronatum, Benedek, 1972
Now Reticulatosphaera. Originally Cleistosphaeridium, subsequently Areosphaeridium?, thirdly (and now) Reticulatosphaera.
Tax. sr. synonym of Reticulatosphaera stellata Matsuoka, 1983, according to Bujak and Matsuoka, 1986.
Holotype: Benedek, 1972, pl.12, fig.13; Benedek and Sarjeant, 1981, fig.10, no.5; text-fig.11; Sarjeant et al., 1987, pl.2, fig.4; Fensome et al., 1993a, fig.1 - p.879.
Locus typicus: Toenisberg, Niederrhein, Germany
Stratum typicum: Middle-Late Oligocene
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Benedek, 1972, p. 34]: (Translation: LPP):
Diagnosis:
The outer surface of the thin, delicate shell is smooth. The fairly constant number of about 20 processes corresponds to their uniform distribution. Also, the general habit remains uniform, the processes bifurcate into an equidistant outer ring. The bilateral ramifications can further branch widely, and are regularly set with numerous small heels.
Dimensions:
Shell 13/15 µm, processes onto ramifications: 15 (12/17) µm.
