Batioladinium varigranosum, (Duxbury 1977), Davey, 1982

Originally Aprobolocysta, subsequently Batioladinium.
Tax. jr. synonym of Batioladinlum? (as Necrobroomea) gochtii Alberti, 1961, according to Below, 1990.
Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, retained this as a separate species in Aprobolocysta Duxbury, 1977.

Original description as Aprobolocysta varigranosa: [Duxbury 1977, p. 53-54]:

Diagnosis:
An elongate ovoidal proximate cyst. Surface of body covered with irregular granular ornament which varies in coarseness. The lower third of the body bears well-developed (up to 2 µm) ornament which becomes gradually finer towards the apex. In the apical region the ornament is again coarse. There is no apical prominence, but there is some indication at the antapex of two poorly developed protuberances, normally only represented by local increases in ornament height.

Dimensions:
Holotype (complete) 73 x 41 µm; complete specimens overall 75-69 x 46-36 µm; archaeopyle formed 83-61 x 46-37 µm.

Affinities:
Aprobolocysta varigranosa is easily distinguished from Aprobolocysta eilema since the former has no obvious separation of endo- and periphragm, variable body ornament and usually some indication of antapical projections, whereas the latter has a distinctive, perforate periphragm, regular, granular endophragm ornament and no apical or antapical projections.
