Arrangement of vesicles/plates on the dinoflagellate amphiesma PR, 4", 1a, 5", 6c, 5""", 1"""", ns; growth of plates peridinioid. Cyst form proximate to proximochorate, acavate, ellipsoidal to ovaloidal; size small; wall composed of firm pedium, surface smooth with densely spaced, short, solid, cylindrical luxuriate spinules of uniform length, spinules basally not widened or weakly oblate, truncate, distally usually cauliflorate, also bifid, trifid, capitate, or evexate, arranged diffusely or in peniareate rows or in dense intraareate clusters, Valvaeodinium-areation usually masked; areation formula NR PR, NRl", NR2", 3a[arch], NR4", 1a[arch], NRc, NR""", NR"""", NRs; archeopyle apical/anterior intercalary, 3"[s] + 1a[s]; operculum solvate, secate, general opercular formula 3a[s] + 1a[s].
