Lanternosphaeridium radiatum n.sp.
Diagnosis: The ovoidal capsule possesses two wall layers of which the outer is constructed of a perforated fiber net. The very variable, solid processes taper gradually and are slightly expanded and fibrous distally. There are often found ramifications and coalescences of the processes. The apical pole is marked by a solid, main process from whose irregular sinuous main axis arise a few sinuous branches. At the opposite pole one finds a relatively longer, stiffer and more pointed process. Often little arches project from the capsule into both axial processes. Almost all specimens have a rounded to trapezoidal pylome.
Measurements: Capsule length 60 µm (56/64 µm), capsule breadth 47 µm (42/50 µm), length of apical process 25-28 µm, process length 15-25 µm (20 measurements). 38 specimens examined.
