Spiniferites microceras ssp. laticornutus (Cookson and Eisenack, 1974) Lentin and Williams, 1977
Originally Spiniferites microceras var. Iaticornutus, subsequently (and now) Spiniferites microceras ssp. Iaticornutus.
Holotype: Cookson and Eisenack, 1974, pl.22, fig.11
Age: Paleocene
Original diagnosis: Cookson and Eisenack, 1974, p.61: Spiniferites microceras var. laticornutus
A variant of the Sp. microceras. Shell broadly oval, thin-walled. Processes relatively short, fairly sturdy (thick), in part interconnected with sporadically coarsely serrated spanning-membranes. The apex bears a short , but broad and flat horn, which sits on the apex with a broad base, again becomes broader after having become slightly narrower and terminates into several pointed extremities, of which the two external ones are the longest.
