Zygabikodinium lenticulatum (Mangin, 1911, p.30,32, figs.3–4) Loeblich Jr. and Loeblich III, 1970a, p.541.

Modern genus defined from the motile state.
Taxonomic senior synonym: Peridinium (now Preperidinium) meunieri Pavillard, 1912, an extant dinoflagellate species, according to Elbrächter (1993, p.176).

Holotype: Mangin, 1911, figs.3–4 — p.30.
Age: extant.

Mudie, 1986, recorded cysts of this taxon from Upper Pliocene-Pleistocene sediments. However, she gave the species citation as Zygabikodinium lenticulatum Wall and Dale, 1968 emend. Bujak and Davies, 1983.
Zygabikodinium lenticulatum represents the encysted stage of Diplopeltopsis minor (Paulsen, 1907) Pavillard, 1913, according to Matsuoka, 1988.
