Cleistosphaeridium solidum
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Cleistosphaeridium? solidum Yun Hyesu, 1981, p.43–44, pl.11, figs.9,13–14. Holotype: Yun Hyesu, 1981, pl.11, fig.13; Fensome et al., 1991, fig.2 — p.739. Taxonomic senior synonym: Hystrichosphaeridium (now Kiokansium) unituberculatum, by implication in Below (1982c, p.16), who considered Cleistosphaeridium solidum to be a taxonomic junior synonym of Hystrichosphaeridium recurvatum subsp. polypes (as Kiokansium polypes), which is now a taxonomic junior synonym of Hystrichosphaeridium (now Kiokansium) unituberculatum. Questionable assignment: Yun Hyesu (1981, p.43). Age: early Santonian.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Yun, 1981, p. 43] (Translation: Fensome, 1991, p. 739-740):
Diagnosis:
A single-layered, proximochorate, spherical cyst with simple, solid spines which are distally forked into 2-5 small, acuminate branches.
Description:
The central body is round to oval and consists of a smooth or perforate layer which gives rise to solid, simple spines. The length and width of the spines are constant within one specimen, but the length varies intraspecifically from one half to an entire central body radius. The spines are not basally thickened on the central body and taper with straight sides up to the distal appendages. These occur in the shape of hooklets, tines or fingers. If several appendages are present, they fork obliquely upwards and are of unequal size. Occasionally, the spines are bifurcate immediately below the distal appendages.
