Hystrichostrogylon membraniphorum ssp. granulatum Heilmann-Clausen and Costa, 1989

Holotype: Heilmann-Clausen and Costa, 1989, pl.18, fig.3
Locus typicus: Wursterheide Reseach Well, Germany
Stratum typicum: Early Eocene

Original diagnosis: Heilmann-Clausen and Costa, 1989, p. 468
This subspecies of H. membraniphorum is distinguished from ssp. membraniphorum by a distinct granulation of the central body (endophragm).
Dimensions of Holotype: Pericyst length: 71 µm, Pericyst width: 67 µm; Endocyst length: 41 µm; Endocyst width: 38 µm.

Islam, 1983, mentions forms of H. membraniphorum with granulation on both endo- and periphragm. Such specimens have not been found in the present study. Smooth-walled typical ssp. membraniphorum were recovered, as well as distinctly granular specimens, referred to the new subspecies. No intermediate forms were observed.
