Wilsonidium echinosuturatum (Wilson, 1967c) Lentin and Williams, 1976. Wilsonidium echinosuturatum has a pentagonal pericyst with the two antapical horns being widely spaced and the left being slightly longer. Margin adorned with prominent capitate or oblate processes (length 3-10 µm). The ornament on the pericyst consists of very prominent ridges crested by oblate or capitate processes (length up to 16 µm). The ridges correspond to sutures. The ambital pericyst is large with the endocyst being circular. Archeopyle appears to be epeliform or semiepeliform. Wilson (1967) found only one specimen with an archeopyle. Size: length pericyst 138-160 µm, width 124-151 µm, endocyst diameter 94 x 98 µm, apical horn 9-16 µm, left antapical horn 8-15 µm, right antapical horn 14-27 µm, lateral horns 11-19 µm.

Original description: Wilson, 1967, p.477, 479: Wetzeliella (Wetzeliella) echinosuturata
Periphragm surface punctate, outline pentagonal; sides more or less straight, rarely concave. Margin adorned with prominent capitate or oblate processes (1=3-10 µm). Right antapical horn invariably longer than left, although there is usually only a small difference. Ornament on periphragm comprised of very prominent ridges crested by oblate or capitate processes (1 up to 16 µm). The ridges correspond to sutures and define a clear peridinioid tabulation (Fig. 3). Pericoel large. Capsule finely granular, usually more or less circular, occasionally sub-rhomboidal. Archeopyle when formed is rectangular and replaces 2a plate.

Dimensions: Holotype: l=149 µm, h= 143 µm, capsule 99x91 µm, Ap. horn 14 µm, l. ant. horn 11 µm, r. ant. horn 22 µm, lateral horns 16 µm. Range (7 specimens): l= 138(146)160 µm, h= 124(136)151 µm, capsule (1) 94x98 µm, ap. h. 9(13)16 µm, 1. ant. h. 8(11)15 µm, r. ant. h. 14(21)27 µm. Iat. h. 11(16)19 µm.

Affinities:

This species is similar to W. (W.) tabulata in that the proesses are located along the sutures between adjacent plates. Only one specimen with an archeopyle was found.
