Original description: [Habib, 1969, p. 98, 100]:

Diplotesta inflata Habib, n. sp.
Plate 3, figures 14-15; plate 4, figure 2

Description: Shell elongate, biconvex or rarely planoconvex, with apices attenuated to a rounded point at one end and more rounded or torn at the other. Capsule always large, occupying at least three-fourths of the area circumscribed by the shell in outline, markedly biconvex, approaching an oval outline, commonly protruding through the torn apex of the shell, although it itself is not torn. Surface of shell and capsule smooth or faintly scabrate.
Twenty measured specimens range from 110 to 140 microns in maximum diameter.

Holotype: Slide RC10-C284-3, SPT-84, coordinates 28.8 horizontal and 117.5 vertical. The specimen measures 125 x44 microns and is illustrated on plate 3, figure 14.

Remarks: Diplotesta inflata i4 similar in form to the Lower Cretaceous D. krutzschi Alberti, differing mainly in the relatively large size of the capsule. It may otherwise be the same as Alberti's (1961) species.
