Original description as Cyclonephelium lemniscatum: [Stanley, 1965, p. 230]:

Description:
Cyst flattened, outline in polar view circular with sculptured elements distributed in equatorial region; diameter 68-79 µm. Cyst wall approximately 0.5 µm thick, surface of shell finely pitted with lumina under 0.5 µm in diameter. Sculpture elements consist of ribbon-like to thread-like elements that are fused with adjacent elements in their central region leaving both the distal and the proximal ends free; length of elements about 25 µm. A more or less distinct opening may be present by the detachment of one end of the cyst (the apical archaeopyle).

Affinities:
The moderately long ribbon-like sculpture elements readily distinguish C. lemniscatum from other previously described species.
