Acritarch genus, according to Stover and Evitt, 1978, Head et al., 1989, and Fensome et al., 1990
Tax. sr. synonym of Collumosphaera Jain and Dutta in Dutta and Jain, 1980, according to Lentin and Williams, 1985. Lentin and Williams, 1989, retained Collumosphaera as a separate genus.
Type species: Cyclopsiella ellptica Drugg and Loeblich, 1967

Cyst small, flattened, ellipsoidal in outline. A small circular aperture is presenton one face just below the apex. The aperture is closed by a circular plug.
