Holotype: Vozzhennikova, 1960, pl.3, fig.3; Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, text-fig.44; lost according to Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.81).
Taxonomic senior synonym: Wetzeliella articulata, according to Costa and Downie (1979, p.40).
This name was not validly published in Vozzhennikova (1960, pl.3, fig.3) since no description was given.
No potential lectotype is available according to Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.81).
Age: Eocene.

Original description: Vozzhennikova, 1967, p.164-165
Theca pentagonal, compressed in a dorsoventral direction with short apical, lateral ant antapical horns. The latter are almost equal in size and somewhat widely separated. The epitheca and hypotheca are almost equal in size. Transverse furrow discernible on the lateral outgrowths; the position of the longitudinal furrow is not clear. The internal body is oval quadrangular, its surface is finely granular ant the color is bright yellow. On the surface of the theca there are small projections as in W. articuleata, the distal ends of which are divided into 4 or 5 slender spinules. Pylome not always discernible.
Size: Holotype, length 127 µm, width 120 µm.
