Trichodinium erinaceoides

Trichodinium erinaceoides Davies, 1983

Holotype: Davies, 1983, pl.6, fig.6-7
Locus typicus: Ellef Ringnes Island, District of Franklin, Northwest Territories, Canada
Stratum typicum: Late Tithonian-Early Valanginian

Original diagnosis: Davies, 1983, p.21-22
A species of Trichodinium with a dense covering of short hair-like spines (5-7 µm long) which obscure the cyst body. Two faint, narrow alignments of spines delimit the cingulum. A slight inflection in the cyst outline marks the apical horn; otherwise the shape is spherical. Archeopyle: P3.
Size: length - 21(23)26 µm; breadth - 18(20)24 µm.

Affinities:
Davies, 1983, p. 22: This species closely resembles Trichodinium pellitum (length - 48-64 µm; Eisenack and Cookson, 1960) except that it is much smaller. The minute size and the dense covering of spines inhibit further description.
